Every year, IMBA clubs around the country celebrate National Trails Day (NTD) with volunteer trailwork, riding and usually some barbecue. This year, NTD, celebrated on June 7, will be another great opportunity for mountain bikers to improve their local trails and help out with a local project. IMBA is excited to announce that the Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crews will be assisting with two incredible NTD celebrations in Golden, CO and Asheville, NC.
In Colorado, the Crew will be working with an all-star cast of organizations, including the Colorado Mountain Bike Association (CoMBA), The Colorado Trail Foundation (CTF), the U.S. Forest Service (USFS), and several others, including local equestrian groups. The Colorado Trail is one of the few long-distance trails mostly open to mountain bikes, and the Trail Care Crew is excited to support this amazing 500-mile route. The trailwork will be focused near the junction of segments One and Two, just outside of the Denver area and heavily used. For more information, and a full list of partners for which CoMBA is dearly grateful, and to register, please go to CoMBA's website.
The Asheville, NC, area contains some of the country's most iconic riding, and our second Trail Care Crew can't wait to work on these legendary trails. The Crew will be partnering with Pisgah Area SORBA, a local chapter of the Southern Off-Road Bicycling Association (SORBA), and the USFS to provide some much needed love to many of the area's trails. The Asheville workday will rival some of SORBA's biggest projects, with an anticipated turnout of close to 200 people, as well as another day devoted to group rides. For more information, visit the event page.
Whether you're helping out at a small local workday, or participating in one of these marquee events, there's never been a better time to give back to the trails that give so much to you. Come out and join IMBA members nationwide on Saturday, June 7, for National Trails Day.
